Miye Nadya Tom is a Lecturer in Native American Studies at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. A postcolonial scholar of Paiute/Pomo/Russian heritage, she holds a Ph.D. from the University of Coimbra, Portugal, and is pursuing an MFA in Creative Nonfiction at the Institute of American Indian Arts, Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Her research focuses on race/ethnicity in education, Indigenous knowledges, and their intersections with sustainability and postcolonial theory. She has collaborated with diverse communities across the USA, Spain, and Portugal, emphasizing educational equity and Indigenous contributions to global sustainability.
In 2019, she co-guest-edited a special issue of UNESCO’s International Review of Education titled “Indigenous knowledges as vital contributions to sustainability,” which featured Indigenous scholars from North America, Latin America, the Pacific Islands, and Africa. Her poetry has been published in News from Native California, reflecting her engagement with creative expression alongside academic work.
