Mitchell B. Schaffler

Mitchell B. Schaffler is a CUNY Distinguished Professor and Wallace H Coulter Professor in the Biomedical Engineering department at City University of New York (CUNY). He conducts research on osteocyte biology, bone mechanosignaling, and skeletal aging mechanisms.

• Osteocyte calcium signaling dynamics under mechanical loading
• Role of mitochondrial dysfunction in skeletal aging
• Hormonal regulation (GH/IGF, estrogen) of bone metabolism
• Impact of diabetes on bone mechanosignaling
• Microdamage repair mechanisms in cortical and trabecular bone
