Missy Thibodeaux-Thompson

Missy Thibodeaux-Thompson is a Professor in the Department of Art, Music, and Theatre at the University of Illinois Springfield (UIS), where she has been on faculty since 2006. She holds an MFA in Acting from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and a BFA in Drama Education from the University of Texas at Austin.

Her research and professional work focuses on theatre arts, acting pedagogy, and play directing. She has presented papers and workshops at national conferences including the Association for Theatre in Higher Education (ATHE), Mid-America Theatre Conference (MATC), Southeastern Theatre Conference (SETC), and the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival (KCACTF), where she currently serves as Region 3 Chair.

As both an educator and practitioner, Missy teaches theatre courses, directs for UIS Theatre, and maintains an active career as an actor and director. Notable acting credits include roles in Love’s Labor’s Lost, Men on Boats, All the Way, and Steel Magnolias, while directing credits at UIS include Twelfth Night and How I Learned to Drive.
