Misha Pavel holds academic appointments at Northeastern University as a Professor of Practice at the Khoury College of Computer Sciences and a jointly appointed faculty member at the Bouvé College of Health Sciences. He is affiliated with the Electrical and Computer Engineering department. His research focuses on multi-scale computational modeling applied to healthcare, engineering, and human performance augmentation, leveraging smart home and mobile device data for actionable insights in healthcare.
Previously, he served as Director of the Smart and Connected Health Program at the National Science Foundation, Chair of Biomedical Engineering at Oregon Health & Science University, and held roles at AT&T Laboratories, Bell Laboratories, and academic positions at Stanford University and New York University.
His work includes leading the Northeastern-based Consortium on Technology for Proactive Care, aiming to innovate distributed, individual-centered healthcare systems. Collaborative projects include NSF-JST grants for super-aging societies and Department of Energy grants for grid-interactive building technologies.
