Professor Miroslav Spasov holds the position of Professor of Composition and Creative Music Technology at Keele University's School of Humanities, where he also serves as Director of Music Production and Sound Design. His work focuses on interactive electroacoustic music, blending instrumental composition with innovative digital techniques. Spasov has conducted renowned orchestras such as the Janáček Philharmonic Orchestra and the Macedonian Philharmonic Orchestra, and his compositions have been performed globally.
His research interests include the application of chaotic attractors in real-time sound synthesis, jazz theory, and semiotics in creative processes. He is an Associate Composer with the British Electroacoustic Network (BEAN) and the Canadian Music Centre (CMC). Notable awards include the 1st Prize at the International Computer Music Competition Pierre Schaeffer (1999) and grants from the Canada Council for the Arts.
Spasov has developed influential software tools like the Attractors Library (MaxMSP) and ENACTIV, which explore nonlinear dynamics in music composition. His creative outputs span orchestral pieces, chamber works, and electroacoustic installations, many of which are available via recordings and academic publications.
