Miroslav Brooš

Miroslav Brooš serves as Professor and Head of the Soft Sculpture Studio and Experimental Creation Studio at the Department of Sculpture, Faculty of Fine Arts, Academy of Arts in Banská Bystrica, where he has been faculty since 2010 and was appointed professor in 2011.

His academic foundation includes:

• 1968–1972: SPŠG-Prague
• 1972–1974: Faculty of Education, Banská Bystrica
• 1975–1980: Academy of Fine Arts, Department of Textile Design (under professors M. Varbanov, M. Josifova, D. Balev, and I. Ignatov)

Brooš maintains a prolific interdisciplinary practice spanning Fiber Art, Paper Art, Sculpture, Performance, Painting, and Collaborative Art. His work has been exhibited in over two dozen solo shows and more than fifty collective exhibitions across 20+ countries since 1992, including prestigious events like the Triennale of Tapestry (Belgium/Poland), International Fiber Art Biennale "From Lausanne to Beijing" (China), and Biennale du lin en Haute (France). His pieces reside in public collections from Banská Bystrica to Washington and feature in Slovak public spaces including Brezno and Ružomberok.

His pedagogical leadership includes authoring accredited study programs in Art Education and Visual Communication during his tenure as Head of the Department of Fine Arts (1995–2005) at Matej Bel University's Faculty of Humanities (1986–2010), where he completed his habilitation in Applied Arts – Textiles in 1996.
