Miroiu Mihaela

Mihaela Miroiu is a Professor at the Faculty of Political Sciences, National School for Political Studies and Public Administration (NSPSA), Bucharest, Romania. She has held significant leadership roles, including Dean of the Political Science Faculty (1997–2001) and Director of Academic Quality Assurance at NSPSA (2004–2008). Her academic contributions include initiating Romania's first MA in Gender Studies (1998) and coordinating the first PhD program in Political Science (2000). She is a leading scholar in feminist philosophy, political ethics, and post-communist transition studies.

Her research focuses on feminist political theory, applied ethics, and gender politics, with notable works such as *The Road to Autonomy* (2004) and *The Birth of Democratic Citizenship* (2018, co-authored with Maria Bucur). She has pioneered gender equity initiatives in education and institutional reform, including the UNESCO Gender Equity Guide for Eastern Europe (2003).

• Recipient of the 2023 PEN Prize for promoting literature and freedom of expression.
• Awarded the 2010 Women Inspiring Europe by the European Institute for Gender Equality.

Her institutional contributions include curriculum development post-Bologna reforms and ethical codes for universities. She has international affiliations, including with Indiana University, Bloomington.
