PD Dr. Mirko Titze is Head of the Centre for Evidence-based Policy Advice (IWH-CEP) and Research Group Leader at the Halle Institute for Economic Research (IWH), part of the Leibniz Association. His work focuses on evaluating subsidy programs and regional economic development, particularly in East Germany and new EU member states. He earned his doctorate from Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg and habilitation from Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, later serving as an interim professor at TU Dortmund University.
His research emphasizes impact assessments of public policies, with recent studies analyzing employment effects of investment grants, subsidy transmission through credit markets, and diaspora-driven knowledge transfer. Key themes include place-based policies, regional disparities, and innovation networks. He has published over 90 works on policy evaluation, subsidy efficiency, and structural economic challenges.
