Prof. Mirjam Nielen is a Professor in Veterinary Medicine at Utrecht University, specializing in Clinical Epidemiology within the Department of Population Health Sciences. She leads the Chair in Veterinary Clinical Epidemiology, focusing on evidence-based veterinary care for both companion animals and production animals. Her research emphasizes clinical epidemiology applications, disease control strategies, and data-driven decision support systems for farmers and veterinarians.
She has led major projects like DECIDE (2021-2026), developing tools for managing non-EU-regulated livestock diseases, and STOC Free (2017-2021), assessing disease freedom in cattle herds.
