Dr. Mirjam Jenny serves as Scientific Director of the Institute for Planetary Health Behavior (IPB) at the University of Erfurt and Research Associate at the Chair of Health Communication. Her work empowers individuals and organizations at the science-society-politics interface to make evidence-based, risk-informed decisions for sustainable outcomes.
Education:
- B.Sc., M.Sc., and Dr. phil. (summa cum laude) in Psychology, University of Basel, Switzerland (2003-2013)
Research Focus: Her interdisciplinary work bridges decision science, planetary health, and communication strategies. She pioneers frameworks for risk literacy in climate-health contexts, develops crisis communication protocols, and advances Science2Society translation mechanisms. Her research directly informs policy through WHO collaborations and government advisory roles.
Scientific Recognition:
- Otto Hahn Medal for the best dissertation-related research, Max Planck Society
- Emilie Louise Frey Prize for outstanding dissertation (psychology), Basel Association of Women Academics and Basel Association of University Teachers
Institutional Leadership: As founder of the IPB's Science2Society program, she directs cross-sectoral teams connecting academic research with civil society and political action. Previously, she established the Science Communication Project Group at the Robert Koch Institute and advised the WHO Pandemic Intelligence Hub during global health crises.
