Dr. Miriam Rich is an Assistant Professor in Bioethics and Health Humanities at the University of Texas Medical Branch. Her research examines racial and reproductive health inequities, historical concepts of race in medicine, and health impacts of incarceration.
Education:
- PhD in History of Science from Harvard University
- MA in History of Science from Harvard University
- BA in History and Biology (Highest Honors) from Swarthmore College
Publications: Author of Monstrous Conceptions: Race, Reproduction, and Medical Science in America, 1830-1930 (forthcoming, Columbia University Press) and co-editor of A Cultural History of Pregnancy and Childbirth in the Modern Age (Bloomsbury Academic Press). Research integrates historical analysis with contemporary health justice frameworks.
