Miriam Jones is Chair and Associate Professor in the Department of Humanities and Languages at the University of New Brunswick (Saint John campus), located on the traditional lands of the Wolastoqiyik. She holds a PhD from York University, following undergraduate studies at the University of Toronto. Her research focuses on gender and nation in early-modern calligraphy manuals, alongside studies of eighteenth-century British literature, speculative fiction, and the politics of higher education.

Research interests span textual studies, gender studies, and material culture, with recent work exploring the intersections of calligraphy manuals and national identity. Her digital projects include interactive timelines on early-modern women calligraphers and literary mappings of speculative fiction. She actively contributes to Wikipedia and maintains an ORCID profile for scholarly publications.
Teaching encompasses over 25 courses, including special topics in book production, speculative fiction, and feminist literary studies. She has advised numerous graduate students through the English Graduate Academic Unit (GAU) at UNB and co-taught interdisciplinary courses on print culture and literary London.
Her digital humanities work includes visual networks analyzing figures like George Bickham and Edward Cocker, leveraging tools like Onodo and Tiki-Toki for collaborative scholarship. She advocates for independent internet spaces and critical engagement with corporate media structures.
