Miriam Jones is a Lecturer in Welsh at the Welsh Language Department within the School of Culture and Communication, Swansea University. Her work bridges academic research and creative practice, focusing on Welsh-language science fiction and its intersections with minority language communities, technology, and cultural identity. She also contributes to debates on Welsh publishing and creative pedagogy.
Miriam's research explores how Welsh-language science fiction reflects and shapes minority language dynamics, technological engagement, and literary innovation. Her first academic book, Impossible Longing: Welsh Science Fiction, is under contract with the University of Wales Press. She has published peer-reviewed articles on topics such as Celtic science fiction and literary adaptation.
Miriam's recent publications focus on Welsh science fiction and its relationship to language revitalization, digital media, and cultural hybridity. Her scholarship emphasizes transnational literary networks, linguistic creativity, and postcolonial narratives.
She contributes to PhD supervision in areas including literary identity, Welsh-language dramaturgy, and representations of diversity in Welsh literature. Her teaching portfolio spans modules on Welsh creative writing, critical analysis, professional translation, and Welsh-language theatre.
