Miriam Bowen is an Associate Lecturer in Philosophy at the University of St Andrews, specializing in logic and language. Her research focuses on self-referential probability, the Liar paradox, and the interplay between indeterminacy and rationality. She holds a PhD in Philosophy (2022) from the University of Leeds, an MA in Logic and Philosophy of Mathematics (2017) from the University of Bristol, and a BSc in Mathematics and Philosophy (2016) from the University of Warwick.
Her work explores suspended judgment in credal frameworks, decision theory, and the cognitive role of indeterminacy. She advocates for 'modest pluralism' in normative attitudes toward indeterminate propositions. Outside academia, she is an avid rock climber, runner, and cellist, performing both solo and with ensembles across the UK and Europe. She has contributed to film projects including Prélude (2020) and Out of the Darkness (2013).
