Miriam B. Schechter

Miriam B. Schechter, MD is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Director of Medical Student Education at the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore. She combines clinical practice at the Comprehensive Family Care Center with leadership roles in medical education and training for students and residents.

• Education: Bachelor of Arts in Biomedical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University (1985), Doctor of Medicine from New York University School of Medicine (1989), Residency and Chief Residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center (1993).

Dr. Schechter’s research centers on medical education, with a focus on enhancing clinical reasoning, problem-based learning, and communication skills in pediatric settings. She is a national leader in simulation-based training for medical trainees.

Her awards include multiple teaching honors, induction into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, and the Leonard Tow Humanism Award (2014), reflecting her commitment to compassionate education and practice. Dr. Schechter is board-certified and actively involved in professional organizations such as the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Academic Pediatrics Association.
