Miri Albahari is a Senior Lecturer in the Discipline of Philosophy at the School of Humanities, University of Western Australia. She holds a BA from the University of Cambridge, an MA from the University of Otago, and a PhD from the University of Calgary. Her research focuses on comparative philosophy, integrating Eastern traditions like Buddhism and Advaita Vedanta with Western philosophy of mind, metaphysics, and epistemology. She advocates for 'Perennial Idealism,' a metaphysical framework positing that reality is grounded in universal consciousness.
Teaching includes courses such as Philosophy of Mind, Philosophy East and West, and Advanced Metaphysics. She has presented at prestigious venues including the Australasian Association of Philosophy conferences and the Towards a Science of Consciousness symposium in Tucson. Her work addresses topics like panpsychism, the mind-body problem, and the nature of consciousness from both analytical and mystical perspectives.
Albahari’s research has led to contributions in journals like Philosophers' Imprint and Monist, as well as chapters in edited volumes such as Oxford Studies in Philosophy of Mind and Routledge Handbook of Panpsychism. She has secured grants, including the ‘Witness-Consciousness’ project, exploring metaphysical frameworks rooted in Eastern philosophies. Her work challenges conventional materialist views, proposing consciousness as the fundamental ground of reality.
