Dr. Miranka Wirth serves as Group Leader at the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE) in Dresden, leading translational research on brain resilience and Alzheimer's disease prevention through multimodal approaches.
Her work centers on three interconnected pillars:
- Characterizing neuronal vulnerability to aging using multimodal neuroimaging and biomarkers
- Investigating neurobiological mechanisms of protective lifestyle factors (physical/mental activity)
- Developing interventions like dance therapy, music, and mindfulness for at-risk older adults
She leverages large-scale datasets (ADNI, DELCODE) and maintains key collaborations with TU Dresden's Faculty of Psychology, DZNE Magdeburg, UCL London, INSERM Caen, and McGill University to translate environmental enrichment research into practical aging interventions.
