Miranda Schmidt

Miranda Schmidt is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics & Astronomy at McMaster University. She holds a PhD in Biophysics from the University of Guelph (2011-2016). Her research focuses on lipid membrane systems, employing techniques like NMR spectroscopy and computational modeling to study phase behavior, lipid-peptide interactions, and drug delivery mechanisms. She has published extensively on topics such as inverted hexagonal phases, cholesterol effects, and lipid nanoparticle function.

Dr. Schmidt teaches undergraduate courses including Introductory Physics, Biophysics of the Cell, and Modern Physics for Chemical Sciences. Her work bridges biophysics and materials science, addressing fundamental questions in membrane biology with implications for biomedical applications.
