Miranda Celeste Laurence is a Doctorate Student at Coventry University's Centre for Dance Research and Aarhus University's Department of Dramaturgy and Musicology, conducting her PhD through the 'Mobilizing Dramaturgy' co-tutelle programme funded by Coventry University under supervision of Prof Susanne Foellmer, Prof Peter Boenisch, Dr Marie-Louise Crawley, and Siobhan Davies.
Her educational background includes an MA (2008-2009) and BA (2004-2008) in English and German Literature from the University of Oxford.
Laurence's research pioneers movement inquiry as a methodological approach to investigate movement through space via dance dramaturgy and spatial design. She explores pathways for conceptual and methodological innovation in fields including architecture, landscape architecture, and urban design while examining logics of 'making-sense' and 'attending-to' in research communication. Her work extends to conceptualizing dance dramaturgy as generative dialogue beyond artistic creation, with teaching experience in space/place investigation and dance analysis at BA level across Dramaturgy, Art History, and Architecture programmes.
Her publications reveal converging trends in body-based design pedagogy, slow togethering as a dialogic tool, and somatic-ecological intersections, spanning performance studies, spatial design, and environmental psychology.
Laurence has received the Coventry University Co-tutelle Stipend (2021).
