Dr Miran Epstein is a Reader in Medical Ethics at Queen Mary University of London, affiliated with the Wolfson Institute of Population Health's Centre for Evaluation and Methods and Barts and The London Medical School. He specializes in medical ethics, history of medical ethics, sociology of bioethics, and philosophy of science.
Education: MD from Tel Aviv University Medical School, PhD in History and Philosophy of Science.
Research focuses on the intersection of medical ethics with advanced capitalism, transplant ethics, academic integrity in bioethics, and end-of-life care controversies. His work critiques institutional fictions in medical ethics and commercialization in healthcare.
Publications span critical analyses of healthcare systems and bioethics, including seminal works on transplant commercialism and end-of-life ethics. He was recognized as a Key Opinion Leader by The Transplantation Society.
Teaching leadership: Since 2002, he has directed medical ethics education at Barts and The London Medical School. He sits on NHS and Queen Mary research ethics committees and represents the Istanbul Declaration Custodian Group.
