Manish Saxena

Dr. Manish Saxena is a PhD student and active researcher at Queen Mary University of London’s Wolfson Institute of Population Health, affiliated with the Centre for Public Health and Policy. He holds roles as Deputy Clinical Director, UK Lead for global studies in Cardiovascular Medicine and Diabetes, and NIHR Specialty Research Lead for Diabetes in North Thames CRN. He is also Academic Co-lead for Commercial Partnerships and Innovation at Barts Health NHS Trust and chairs National Research Ethics Committees.

Education: MBBS (1996), Master’s in Health Care Research and Clinical Drug Development (Queen Mary, distinction). He is a European Accredited Hypertension Specialist at Barts Hypertension Clinic, with 25+ years of medical practice. Research focuses on hypertension pharmacotherapy/device treatments, dyslipidaemia, CVD prevention, and dementia. He leads major studies on GLP1 analogues, SGLT2 inhibitors, PCSK-9 inhibitors, and dementia therapies targeting beta-amyloid.

Publications highlight renal denervation innovations and hypertension treatment mechanisms. Awards include Fellowship of the Joint British and Irish Hypertension Society. Advising/Grants: Leads global cardiovascular outcome trials, collaborates with industry and HRA. Lab affiliations include Research & Action on Salt & Obesity unit and Barts FMD Commercial Partnerships team.
