Minh Canh Vu

Dr Minh Canh Vu is a Research Fellow at the Precision Mechatronics Lab, University of Newcastle. He holds a Ph.D. in Polymer Science and Engineering from Korea National University of Transportation (2020) and was a Research Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Chicago (2021-2024). His research focuses on advanced electrolyte synthesis, Li/Na metal battery electrodes, and thermoconductive EMI shielding composites. He also served as a Lecturer for the course MECH2250 at the Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City in 2024.

Research Interests: Dr. Vu’s work spans electrochemical energy storage, microelectromechanical systems (MEMS), additive manufacturing, and composite materials. He develops novel materials for batteries, EMI shielding, and thermal management. His research emphasizes sustainable and eco-friendly synthesis methods, particularly using plant-mediated nanoparticle fabrication.

Grants & Funding: Dr. Vu has secured over $2.26 million in grants, including projects on dual-ion batteries, thermally conductive EMI shielding materials, and MXene-based microbatteries.

Labs & Collaborations: He leads research in the Precision Mechatronics Lab at the University of Newcastle, focusing on advanced materials for energy storage and thermal management. His collaborations span universities and institutions globally, with notable work on MXene composites and graphene-based nanomaterials.
