Ming Xuan Chua is a Mechatronics Engineering researcher and educator at the University of New South Wales (UNSW), Faculty of Engineering. He recently completed his PhD at UNSW and has been teaching in various capacities since 2020, progressing from casual academic to Associate Lecturer.
His research focuses on wearable sensing, robotics, and intelligent systems, with particular expertise in developing advanced wearable strain-sensor and IMU fusion systems for detecting fatigue-induced compensatory movements in rehabilitation. Dr. Chua is passionate about building real-time systems that bridge sensing, perception, and control for practical medical and engineering applications.
Dr. Chua has extensive teaching experience across statistics, programming, robotics, control, and mechatronics design. He has contributed to course redesign, supervised award-winning thesis projects, and supported both online and in-person delivery during and after the COVID-19 transition.
His technical expertise spans ROS2, Image Processing, and SLAM.
