Min Jun Jo is a Phillip Griffiths Assistant Research Professor of Mathematics at Duke University, affiliated with the Trinity College of Arts & Sciences. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of British Columbia, advised by Tai-Peng Tsai and In-Jee Jeong, with earlier degrees from Yonsei University. His research focuses on nonlinear partial differential equations in fluid dynamics, particularly regularity persistence and singularity formation in incompressible flows.
Education: PhD in Mathematics (2023, UBC), Master’s & Bachelor’s in Mathematics (Yonsei University).
Research: Explores inviscid damping, vortex dynamics, and stability in fluid models such as the Euler, Navier-Stokes, and quasi-geostrophic equations. Recent work includes cusp formation in vortex patches and non-convergence of rotating stratified flows.
Teaching: Taught courses like Elementary Differential Equations and Nonlinear Dynamics at Duke since 2023.
Professional Engagement: Invited talks at ETH Zürich, Tulane University, and Seoul National University. Active in workshops on singularities in fluids and wave turbulence.
