Dr. Mimi I. Hu is a Professor in the Department of Endocrine Neoplasia and Hormonal Disorders at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, affiliated with the Division of Internal Medicine. She holds a dual appointment as Clinical Assistant Professor at the Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine. Her clinical expertise focuses on thyroid carcinoma (differentiated and medullary), hereditary endocrine neoplasia disorders, and metabolic bone/mineral disorders. She leads multiple clinical trials evaluating targeted therapies for advanced thyroid cancer.
Education & Training: Dr. Hu graduated from Rice University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, earned her M.D. from the University of Texas Health Science Center, and completed residency and endocrine fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine, serving as Chief Medical Resident. She joined MD Anderson's faculty in 2007 after a research fellowship there.
Research Interests: Her work spans clinical and translational research in endocrine oncology, including medullary thyroid carcinoma, multiple endocrine neoplasia, bone health in cancer patients, and endocrine complications from head/neck surgeries. She emphasizes paraneoplastic endocrine disorders and precision medicine approaches.
