Miller McLean

Miller McLean is a Lecturer in the Department of Romance Languages and Literatures at Binghamton University. He earned his PhD in French from the University of Virginia in May 2024. His research explores masculinities in 19th-century French literature, with a focus on realist/naturalist novels and Romantic drama. At Binghamton, he teaches French language courses and coordinates the Table Française, a French conversation initiative.

His publications analyze paternal authority in Émile Zola’s late fiction, including a critical reexamination of Zola’s Rome (1896) and a postcolonial critique of European intellectual hegemony in his book review Can Non-Europeans Think?. His work bridges historical literary analysis with contemporary theoretical frameworks.
