Milfrid Tonheim is a Professor at the Institute of Welfare and Participation at the University of Bergen, with a part-time research position at NORCE Research since January 2020. She holds a Dr.philos. degree in Administration and Organizational Science from the University of Bergen, focusing on the reintegration of girl soldiers in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
- Research Interests: Child welfare, refugee youth, foster care, migration studies, social reintegration, and policy analysis.
- Current Projects: Lead investigator for the HoMi project (2020–2025) on foster care for children with migrant backgrounds and researcher in the Drawing Together Project on refugee youth wellbeing.
- Teaching: Courses include child protection interventions, social inequality, and master's thesis supervision.
