Miles Couchman

Miles Couchman is an Assistant Professor in Applied Mathematics at York University's Faculty of Science. His research focuses on fluid mechanics, particularly pilot-wave hydrodynamics, geophysical turbulence, and turbulent mixing processes in oceans. He employs experimental, computational, and machine learning approaches to study stratified flows and their application to climate modeling.

Current projects investigate turbulent mixing in the ocean using machine learning and high-performance computing, supported by NSERC, MathWorks, and U.S. Department of Energy grants. He teaches courses in applied linear algebra, multivariate calculus, and numerical solutions to differential equations.
