معرفی
Andrea Maffioli is an Associate Professor at École Centrale de Lyon, affiliated with the Laboratoire de Mécanique des Fluides et d’Acoustique (LMFA). His research focuses on stably stratified turbulence, combining analytical methods and Direct Numerical Simulations (DNS) to study energy distribution, mixing processes, and flow structures in oceanic environments. He holds a PhD from the University of Cambridge (2013), where he also completed his Bachelor and Master degrees in Engineering. Currently, he participates in the Geophysical Flows Lab at IIT Madras, India.
Key research themes include stratified turbulence dynamics, internal gravity waves, and geophysical fluid mechanics. His work addresses fundamental questions about energy transfers, enstrophy distribution, and mixing efficiency in stably stratified flows. Recent studies involve DNS of high-resolution turbulent flows and analysis of vertical spectra in large-scale stratified systems.
Publications highlight contributions to understanding wave-turbulence interaction, buoyancy gradient asymmetry, and organized eddy behavior in rotating systems. His work is supported by collaborations with international institutions and leverages advanced computational tools like the cmocean package for visualization.
