Milena Salvo is a Full Professor at the Department of Applied Science and Technology (DISAT) within the Politecnico di Torino. She serves as the Contact person for industry relations, President of the University Internship Commission, and Academic Advisor for Materials Engineering programs. As a member of the Interdepartmental Center J-Tech@PoliTO, she leads research in advanced materials technologies.
Research Interests include:
- Coatings and Joining Technologies
- Glasses and Glass-Ceramics
- Thermoelectric and Energy Storage Materials
- Industrial Waste Valorization
- Surface Engineering for Aerospace and Energy Applications
Her scientific projects span EU-funded initiatives like COACH (H2020) for advanced ceramics, CEM-WAVE for microwave-assisted composites, and MAGASTORAGE for thermal energy systems. She has supervised PhD students in topics ranging from plasma treatments of composites to brazing alloys for steelmaking. The GLANCE research group under her leadership develops custom materials for extreme environments and sustainable applications, including fiber optic sensors and vitrification processes.
