Milena Moteva

Associate Professor Milena Moteva serves at the University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy (UACEG) within the Faculty of Geodesy, Department of Sustainable Land Use and Property Management. She teaches courses including Structure of Agricultural Territories, Land Use Planning, Regional Economics, and Management of Protected Areas for both bachelor's and master's programs in Geodesy and Land Management.

Her research focuses on agricultural land management, irrigation technologies, soil science, climate change impacts on agriculture, and sustainable land use practices. She has made significant contributions to understanding irrigation regimes, water-saving technologies, evapotranspiration processes, and territorial organization of agricultural lands. Her work bridges engineering, environmental science, and agricultural policy.

Her recent publications demonstrate a strong focus on climate change adaptation in agriculture, water resource management, and land consolidation. The research spans from field-level crop-water relationships to national-scale land use planning, with particular attention to Bulgarian agricultural conditions. Her work increasingly integrates spatial planning approaches with water management strategies.

Professor Moteva has supervised three PhD students, with two having successfully defended their dissertations. She has participated in numerous national and international projects related to agricultural land management, irrigation, and climate change adaptation.

She is actively involved in professional organizations including the National Technical Society of Agricultural Specialists and the Bulgarian Soil Science Society. Her work has contributed to policy development through participation in working groups with the Ministry of Agriculture and Food and the World Bank.
