Dr. Miklós Halada is Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Building Structures and Energy Design at the University of Pécs, Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology. Holding master degrees in architecture and civil engineering as well as a DLA and habilitation, he has taught at UP since 2003 and currently leads graduate courses in building construction, historical structures and design methodology while supervising six PhD candidates in the Marcel Breuer Architectural Doctoral School.
Research & design focus:
- Tensile and membrane structures, retractable roofs
- Rehabilitation of historical buildings and energy-efficient retrofits
- Lightweight structural systems and digital presentation methods
He maintains an active architectural practice (since 2003) specialising in membrane roofs, has realised stadium covers, airport terminals and cultural buildings, and is a regular invited speaker at Pollack Expo and other national conferences. Memberships include the Hungarian Chamber of Architects and the Scientific Committee for Architecture of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.
Selected honours:
- Mihály Pollack Medal Bronze Grade 2022 for educational and organisational achievements
- Special prizes in national architectural competitions (2007, 2013)
He has produced educational materials under the ZENFE and EFOP projects, organised international workshops (HelloWood, Researchers’ Nights) and serves as reviewer and mentor for membrane-structure projects such as Solar Decathlon Europe 2021.
