Mikhail Golosov is the Homer J. Livingston Professor of Economics at the University of Chicago's Kenneth C. Griffin Department of Economics, where he has been since 2017. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota (2004) and previously taught at Princeton University, Yale University, and MIT. His research focuses on macroeconomics, public finance, and political economy, addressing topics such as optimal taxation, sovereign debt, and economic policy design.
His academic contributions span theoretical frameworks for analyzing fiscal and monetary policy, redistributive mechanisms, and political economy dynamics. Notable achievements include the Sloan Research Fellowship and National Science Foundation CAREER Grant. He co-edits the American Economic Review and is a fellow of the Econometric Society.
Recent work examines taxation of households, political cycles in China, and heterogeneous agent models.
