Mike Thompson

Mike Thompson is a Lecturer in the Department of Design at Goldsmiths University of London. He holds a PhD in Design (2023), MA Contextual Design (2009), and BA Visual Communication (2003). His research focuses on participatory and making-led design methodologies, exploring material participation and ecological perspectives through human-nonhuman entanglements. His work includes the AHRC-funded PhD on the Fatberg project, examining nonhuman collaborations, and the Reperceiving Communities project (2025), an open-source toolkit for environmental and social change. Thompson co-founded Thought Collider, an art/design studio collaborating with institutions like Kings College London and Waag Society. His work has been exhibited globally, including at MoMA (NY) and CCCB (Barcelona).
