Dr. Mike McCall is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Psychology at the University of South Carolina, part of the McCausland College of Arts and Sciences. He has taught since 2010, instructing courses such as Introduction to Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Social Psychology, and Human Sexual Behavior. He also serves as a psychological consultant for USC Athletics, focusing on academic success interventions for student-athletes.
Dr. McCall holds a B.S. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and an M.A. and Ph.D. in School Psychology from the University of South Carolina. His research focuses on academic support for student-athletes, ADHD/learning disability assessment, and concussion recovery practices. He has conducted studies on reading fluency interventions, academic risk predictors for athletes, and curriculum-based measurement techniques.
He is actively involved with the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) and the National Association of Academic Advisors for Athletics (N4A), serving as Chair-Elect for N4A’s Learning Concerns and Enhancement Committee. His professional presentations span regional and national conferences for NASP and N4A.
Outside academia, Dr. McCall participates in sports like tennis and disc golf, plays trumpet in the Columbia Community Orchestra, and supports local arts and dining scenes.
