Mike Humphreys

Mike Humphreys is a Departmental Lecturer in Byzantine History at the University of Oxford's Department of History. His research focuses on Byzantine transformation (600–900), particularly iconoclasm and legal penalties like mutilations, examining their implications on Byzantine attitudes toward the body, gender, and justice. He holds a background from the University of Cambridge, including a Research Fellowship at St John’s College (2013–17) and prior roles as a University Lecturer.
