Lieutenant Colonel Mike Eliassen, U.S. Army (Retired), serves as a Running Start Advisor in Eastern Washington University's Dual Enrollment Program. He holds a Professor academic rank, previously serving as Department Chair and Professor of Military Science at EWU. His military career spans over 20 years, including command roles in Afghanistan and Iraq, leadership in the 75th Ranger Regiment, and operational assignments across Europe and Australia. He retired as a decorated officer with extensive combat and leadership experience.
Education includes a B.A. in History (WSU), B.A. in Education (EWU), and M.S. in Strategic Leadership (American Military University). Military education highlights include the Australian Command and Staff Course and Ranger School. His expertise focuses on leadership development, operational planning, and team-building strategies in high-stakes environments.
LTC Eliassen’s awards reflect his service, including the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, and multiple unit citations. He has produced over 50 commissioned officers annually through ROTC programs and contributed to tactical innovations in combat operations. His civilian and military roles emphasize bridging educational and leadership training across diverse populations.
