Mike A Blake is an Associate Professor in Theoretical Physics at the School of Mathematics, University of Bristol. His research focuses on mathematical physics, bridging high energy theory, gravity, and quantum many-body dynamics through holography and quantum field theory.
Education:
- BA
- MMath
- PhD
Research interests involve using holography to study strongly coupled quantum field theories via black hole physics in anti-de Sitter space. He investigates scrambling, many-body chaos, and their connections to hydrodynamics, alongside developing bounds for chaos and quantum information propagation.
Publication trends highlight his work on quantum chaos, holography, black holes, and hydrodynamics, with recent studies extending to entanglement membranes, pole-skipping in black holes, and simulable quantum circuits. His earlier work focuses on diffusivity, transport, and AdS/CFT applications.
Grants: Currently supported by UK Research and Innovation (Horizon Europe Scheme) for the project "Strongly Interacting Quantum Dynamics" (EP/Y00468X, 2023–2028).
Advising: Invites PhD students interested in quantum field theory and holography to contact him for opportunities at Bristol.
