Mikayel VARDANYAN is a Full Professor and Head of Department at the Quantitative Methods department of the IÉSEG School of Management, France. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Oregon State University (2005). His academic career spans over 18 years at IÉSEG, progressing from Assistant Professor (2010–2017) to Associate Professor (2017–2023) before attaining his current rank in 2023. Prior roles include Research Associate at the University of Luxembourg (2008–2010) and Lecturer positions at SUNY Binghamton and Oregon State University (2005–2008).
His research focuses on quantitative methods applied to economics, emphasizing environmental and energy economics, productivity analysis, and operational research. Notable contributions include studies on green technology transitions, energy security, and sustainability metrics. He has published extensively in journals like European Journal of Operational Research, Energy Economics, and Annals of Operations Research.
His awards include the 2004 Outstanding Graduate Student Award and 2003 Outstanding Graduate Assistant Award from Oregon State University. Teaching responsibilities span Quantitative Methods courses across IÉSEG’s Grande École, International MBA, and MSc in Fashion Management programs.
Recent work highlights include analyzing China’s energy transition policies, evaluating green financing mechanisms, and assessing digital technology’s role in energy efficiency. His research bridges theoretical frameworks (e.g., data envelopment analysis, directional distance functions) with applied policy evaluation, contributing to sustainable development and environmental governance.
