Mikaela Linn Thompson is a Clinical Assistant Professor and Clinic Coordinator at Midwestern University’s Occupational Therapy Program within the College of Health Sciences-Glendale. She joined the program in August 2020. Her expertise lies in sensory integration, pediatric occupational therapy, and addressing sensory processing difficulties in children with autism spectrum disorders, neurological disorders, and developmental delays.
Education: She earned her Master of Occupational Therapy (M.O.T.) from Midwestern University (2012–2014) and a Bachelor’s in Kinesiology from Biola University (2008–2011). She holds advanced certifications, including the Certificate in Ayres Sensory Integration (CASI) from the Collaborative for Leadership in Ayres Sensory Integration and the Therapeutic Listening Program (TLP) certification. She also completed the USC Sensory Integration Continuing Education Certificate Program.
Teaching & Research: Thompson directs the Sensory Integration Elective (OTHE670) and supervises Level 1 and 2 fieldwork students. Her research interests focus on sensory integration and pediatrics. She is an active member of the American Occupational Therapy Association and Arizona Occupational Therapy Association.
