Mikael Gilljam is a Professor at the Department of Political Science, University of Gothenburg. His research focuses on democracy issues, political opinions, election research, and research methods. He leads an ongoing project titled 'Realization of the will of the people,' analyzing the disconnect between public opinion and policy in Sweden over 60 years, funded by Forte. His work explores procedural fairness, electoral systems, intergroup contact effects, and the impact of diversity on social trust. Gilljam has contributed to over 30 academic publications since 2012, examining topics such as polling accuracy, democratic responsiveness, and the effects of transparency on legitimacy. He collaborates with institutions like the Quality of Government Institute and has presented at international conferences including the American Political Science Association meetings.
