Oliveira's research investigates empirical and theoretical linkages between corporate finance and household behavior, specializing in bankruptcy dynamics and financial distress spillovers. He examines how corporate leverage decisions propagate to employee consumption patterns and household debt relief efficacy, utilizing Portuguese transaction-level data and theoretical extensions of Diamond-Mortensen-Pissarides frameworks. His work bridges labor economics with corporate finance, revealing how financial distress costs transfer to employees without compensatory wage adjustments.
