معرفی
Professor Miguel Maravall is a Professor of Neuroscience at the School of Life Sciences, University of Sussex, where he also serves as Deputy Head of School (Research). With a background in Physics, his career transitioned to systems neuroscience through postdoctoral work at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory and SISSA. He led a lab at the Instituto de Neurociencias in Alicante (2004-2015) before joining Sussex.
His research focuses on principles of sensory coding in the brain, particularly how neuronal populations encode tactile information via the mouse whisker system. Techniques include two-photon imaging, electrophysiology, and behavioral task design. Funding comes from the MRC, BBSRC, and the Royal Society.
His publications highlight trends in sensory adaptation, cortical circuit dynamics, and optical imaging innovations. Awards include the Ramon y Cajal Fellowship, Marie Curie Fellowship, and La Caixa Foundation Studentship. He has held leadership roles in Athena SWAN and Equality, Diversity & Inclusion initiatives at Sussex.
