Miguel A. Alonso is a Professor at The Institute of Optics, University of Rochester. His work focuses on mathematical aspects of wave propagation, particularly structured intensity and polarization distributions in optical beams, optical coherence, and connections between ray and wave models of light. He holds leadership editorial roles, including Editor-in-Chief of Optics Letters, and is recognized as a Fellow of Optica.
