Miglena S. Todorova is an Associate Professor in Social Justice Education at the Ontario Institute for Studies of Education (OISE), University of Toronto. She also serves as Director of the Centre for Media, Culture and Education at OISE and is affiliated with the Centre for European and Eurasian Studies. Her work bridges cultural, gender, and educational studies with a focus on Canada, the U.S., and former socialist states in Eastern Europe and the Balkans.
Her research emphasizes media and cultural literacy addressing global social differences, with notable contributions in transnational feminism and postsocialist studies. She directs the Decolonizing the Spirit initiative exploring spiritual dimensions in education and social justice.
Recent publications include the monograph *Unequal under Socialism: Race, Women and Transnationalism in Bulgaria* (2021), co-edited volume *Decolonizing the Spirit in Education and Beyond* (2019), and peer-reviewed articles in journals like *Canadian Journal for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning* and *Journal of Socialist Studies/Études socialistes*.
Dr. Todorova received the 2023 CASWE/ACÉFÉ Award for her research and teaching contributions to women and education. Her current projects address transnational solidarity pedagogies and systemic barriers faced by international students regarding sexual violence prevention.
