Mick Smith is a Professor and Queen's National Scholar at Queen's University, holding joint appointments in the Department of Philosophy and the School of Environmental Studies within the Faculty of Arts and Science. He earned his Ph.D. in Environmental Values from the University of Stirling (1993), following earlier degrees in Ecology and European Thought. His research integrates environmental ethics, social theory, and phenomenology to explore nature-culture intersections, including emotional geographies, ecological sovereignty, and tourism ethics.

Advising & Grants: Supervises graduate students in Philosophy and Environmental Studies. His grants and collaborative projects focus on ecological ethics and sustainability. He co-edits Emotion, Space and Society and contributes to interdisciplinary environmental studies.
