معرفی
Dr. Michelle Yap is a Senior Lecturer and Program Director of Medical Bioscience at the School of Science, Monash University Malaysia. She leads the Toxin Pharmacology Research Group, focusing on molecular mechanisms of cytotoxins and developing next-generation biotherapeutics. Her work integrates biomolecular modeling, proteomics, and immunological approaches to understand venom toxin interactions. Key projects include venom database curation, cyanotoxin monitoring, and aptamer-based therapies.
Education: PhD in Molecular Medicine (Toxicology & Pharmacology) from Universiti Malaya, specializing in Equatorial spitting cobra venom characterization. BSc (Hons) in Biochemistry from Universiti Malaya.
Research Interests: Venom proteomics, toxin neutralization, and toxin-based drug discovery. She actively collaborates on environmental initiatives like RiverWatch to address water quality issues.
Notable Awards: Gold Medal for 'PLANT B' (2023), Bronze Medal at iRISE 2025, and RSTMH Small Grants Programme (2021). She contributes to editorial roles at PLoS ONE and Frontiers in Pharmacology.
Labs/Teams: Directs the Toxin Pharmacology Research Group, emphasizing STEM education and public engagement through workshops and forums.
