Michelle Vine, PhD, CE, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Sciences at Brock University’s Faculty of Applied Health Sciences. She holds a PhD in Health Geography (McMaster University, 2013) and an MA in Sociology (Acadia University, 2006). Her research focuses on public health practice, program evaluation, school nutrition policy, and adolescent mental health, emphasizing qualitative methods to explore how environments shape health outcomes. She previously worked as an Evaluation Specialist at Public Health Ontario and holds the Credentialed Evaluator designation from the Canadian Evaluation Society.
Dr. Vine’s research interests include school nutrition policy compliance, health literacy, and the scholarship of teaching and learning. She has contributed to studies assessing Ontario’s Healthy Kids Community Challenge and the COMPASS study’s vending machine data. Her work also addresses Indigenous evaluation methodologies and health equity. She is affiliated with Brock University’s Health Sciences Research Ethics Board and various academic committees.
Her teaching portfolio includes courses like Foundations of Program Evaluation and Measuring Health Equity, reflecting her commitment to bridging research and practice. Dr. Vine’s publications span peer-reviewed journals in public health, education, and geography, with a focus on policy implementation, school environments, and collaborative knowledge exchange.
