Michelle V. Switzer is a Professor of Philosophy at Whittier College's Department of Philosophy since 1998. She holds a B.A. from Oberlin College and an M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Toronto. Her research focuses on social philosophy, anti-colonial philosophy, eco-philosophy, and the philosophy of race, with a particular emphasis on decolonial and eco-feminist frameworks. She has served as Department Chair, Coordinator of Gender Studies and Environmental Studies, and Chair of the Educational Policies Committee. Switzer has received grants for curricular diversification and actively engages in interdisciplinary collaborations, teaching courses like 'Black Philosophy' and 'Feminist Philosophy of Science.' She also mentors early-career philosophers through the Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship Program.
