Michelle Rosen

Michelle Rosen is Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering at The Cooper Union's Albert Nerken School of Engineering. Her research specializes in biologically inspired robotics, including insect-scale flapping-wing robots (RoboMoth) and soft pneumatic actuators.

Current work explores mechanical design and fabrication of robots with bio-inspired morphologies, recently presenting novel bi-directional bending actuators at IROS 2024. Her lab integrates principles from biomechanics and materials science to develop agile robotic systems.

Publications demonstrate expertise in microrobotics, underwater exploration systems, and energy-efficient flight platforms. Research consistently bridges fundamental mechanical design with applications in environmental exploration and medical devices.
